Day 9 of our California Tour takes us to Lake Tahoe.
Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. At an elevation of 6,225 ft, it is the largest alpine lake in North America.
How big is Lake Tahoe? It’s 22 miles long, 12 miles wide, has a shoreline 72 miles in length, and a surface area of 191 sq miles. The lake covers 105,000 acres and is more than 1,600 feet deep making it the second deepest in the United States after Crater Lake in Oregon.
And if that is not enough to impress you, the clarity of the water (99.994% pure) and the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains are stunning.
