Incorporated in 1901, Cody, Wyoming was founded in 1896 by Colonel William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody, who passed through the region in the 1870s. He was so impressed by the development possibilities of irrigation, rich soil, grand scenery, hunting, and proximity to Yellowstone National Park that he returned in the mid-1890s to start a town.

Today, Cody is known as the Rodeo Capital of the World and is home to more than six historic museums including the famous Buffalo Bill Center of the West Museum. Here you will find the Cody Firearms Museum, home to more than 4,000 firearms, the most comprehensive firearms museum in the United States.
